MEET OUR TEAM

Meet our team of dedicated professionals who are committed to increasing access to end-of-life care training for veterinary teams and pet owners.

Our goals are to ensure:

- Every pet owner should be provided with the education, tools and resources they need to be able to identify comfort and quality of life during their pets final days.

- Every pet, regardless of their breed or temperament should be provided with a compassionate euthanasia free of fear or additional discomfort

We work tirelessly to make that a reality.

Founder & Owner

Emily Piché, RVT, CHPT, CPEP

Emily is a dedicated hospice care provider, educator, and speaker, with a passion for helping families navigate one of life’s most difficult moments.

Since assisting with the startup and development of one of Canada’s first Veterinary Hospice Centres in 2018, she has been committed to providing compassionate hospice care and ensuring that pets receive a peaceful and dignified passing.

Her work guiding families through the final phase of their pet’s life has inspired her to develop a hospice and end-of-life care training program, designed to equip veterinary professionals with the skills and knowledge needed to support families during the hospice phase.

As a Registered Veterinary Technician, Emily has been a pioneer in providing in home euthanasia services under the indirect supervision of a Veterinarian, demonstrating how RVTs, when given the opportunity and dedicated training, can make a significant impact in this area.

Driven by her belief in accessibility, Emily is focused on finding creative solutions to increase the availability of hospice and euthanasia services for pet families. In addition to her work with veterinary teams, she is excited to introduce dedicated training for pet parents this June!

This new initiative aims to provide families with the education, tools, and resources they need to have meaningful discussions with their veterinary team and make informed, compassionate decisions during this difficult journey.

Emily’s goal is to ensure that all families can access the care and support they deserve at the end of their pet’s life, and to advocate for a future where RVTs play a leading role in meeting this growing need within the veterinary industry.

Event Coordinator

Katelyn Van Casteren

Katelyn’s lifelong passion for animals and personal experiences with veterinary end-of-life care have inspired her to join the Art of Goodbye team. She is excited to help improve the quality of veterinary End-of-Life Care around the world.

Sadly, her first veterinary end-of-life care experience was incredibly stressful and traumatic for both her pet and her family due to the outdated methods used by the veterinary clinic. This experience left her feeling apprehensive about requiring veterinary end-of-life care services in the future.

Her second veterinary end-of-life care experience eased her conscience about making the difficult decision to say goodbye to a beloved pet. Emily created an experience that beautifully honoured the family’s bond. Her compassion and professionalism during this extremely difficult time were second to none.

With over 13 years of experience in medical office management, Katelyn’s skills and knowledge will be invaluable in coordinating meaningful and informative veterinary end-of-life care training events.
